Dr. Desai completed his undergraduate and his medical doctorate degrees from Tufts University. For postgraduate medical training, he completed a General Adult Psychiatry residency at University of Maryland/ Sheppard Pratt and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Desai started his private practice in Freehold, New Jersey, where he provides medication management and psychotherapy services. Dr. Desai’s areas of expertise include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and Mood Disorders, in addition to school-based psychiatric consultation services. In 2020, Dr. Desai completed a Certificate of Additional Training in Sports Psychiatry which involves the assessment and management of behavioral health conditions in athletes. Dr. Desai provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and holistic treatment services for athletes across all levels of competition, ranging from student athletes to elite, professional athletes. As an additional facet to his Sports Psychiatry work, Dr. Desai completes Therapeutic Use Exemption Evaluations and manages treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in professional baseball players.
