Rolando Gonzalez, MD is a licensed psychiatrist passionate about optimizing mental well-being and performance by managing mental illnesses and day-to-day challenges. Dr. Gonzalez is board certified in General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. He completed his medical training at Northeast Ohio Medical University. Rolando then completed his residency and Child/Adolescent fellowship at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he got his introduction to clinical work with high-performance athletes and artists in the high school, college, and professional settings. He is currently sitting for the International Olympic Committee Diploma program in Mental Health. He is an active contributor to education, serving as Assistant Professor at Florida State University. He has published in multiple books and journals, including managing depression, bipolar disorder in athletes as well as the issue of sports-related concussions.
Dr. Gonzalez has worked at various levels of elite sports, including the college setting, youth Olympics, and professional sports. He provides evaluations, treatment plans, and psychoeducation as an independent consultant to multiple professional teams in baseball and hockey.
